A New Addition to the Family
We’d like to announce a new addition to the family! Before we get to that, though, here’s a quick recap of our story for those who are new. I am a wife and mother to four beautiful girls. Yes, four. I left a beautiful home that I love, and moved in with my parents so my wonderful husband, Ben, could pursue a career in acting.Â
Since moving out to California last February, my hubby has been in TV shows, films, and even a few commercials. In addition, he also writes and produces his own shows. Recently, we produced our very first short film (for the posts on our short film click here and here).
Now… I fully support my husband in his career as an actor. Meaning, not only do I support him vocally and emotionally, but I also allow much of our family finances to go towards his career. So, he gets professional headshots, professional vocal lessons, an expensive gym membership, a personal trainer, acting classes, a short film for his demo reel, and whatever other “investments” we deem necessary to help him progress as an actor. And because we live with my parents, we can make those kinds of financial sacrifices, which we’re very thankful for.
It’s been an interesting experience moving in with my folks. Don’t get me wrong. Like I said, it’s been a huge blessing; we have nothing to complain about. But it has been an adjustment.
For example, we had to downsize quite a lot to be able to fit into the space we have. We consolidated two kitchens into one. We are making good use of two sets of bunk beds in one bedroom for the girls. And we added another vehicle to an already full driveway (we sold our second vehicle to pay for the move, so we’ve been sharing one vehicle for the last year). We had to sell quite a lot to be able to make the move out here and fit into our new home (click here for a post about the move). And you know what… we feel it’s all been worth it.
We have had so many beautiful dreams that we have had to put on hold time and again. Our dream home has had to wait. Dance lessons and Disneyland for the girls, they’ve had to wait, too. And Adrie (my 2 year old) has been the baby longer than any of the others were… way longer than I would like.
But, we’re so excited to announce that at least some of our waiting is over. Here she is… our new baby.
Isn’t she lovely…? Isn’t she beautiful? She’s a 2018 Yamaha Bolt R-Spec. And we haven’t named her yet, so let us know if you have a good recommendation.
Now, before you all tell me that my hubby is going to die a horrific death… don’t. I already have anxiety. Your (obviously well-intentioned) negativity won’t help anything, nor will it change our minds. She is bought, paid for, thought over, prayed about, stressed about, rethought, agreed on, lectured on, and warned about time and time again. So there.
This new baby of ours will be the reliable second vehicle we have sorely needed. And she doesn’t take up too much space, which is great… because we don’t have much space to give her. Our street is lined with cars pretty much all day, every day, and finding parking for yet another vehicle would have been difficult even with a small sedan. What’s more… we will be saving so much money on gas with Ben commuting to work every day. We couldn’t be more excited!
